Kniterate by Gerard Rubio
Democratising fabrication through re-invented industrial machinery
Kniterate is a compact digital knitting machine that makes fashion fabrication affordable and possible for small fashion businesses, design studios, maker spaces and schools. Developed by Gerard Rubio, a designer based in Barcelona, Kniterate aims to democratise digital knitting by requiring a fraction of the nancial and space investment of commercial knitting machines, which typically cost more than £30,000. Users can create custom knitted products, including jumpers, scarfs and hats. Kniterate’s software also provides an open network platform for users to share their designs.
